Why's the Good Music Gone?

Alrighty, so I was in the car on the way home from Lake George today, and I heard a song on the radio. At first, I thought it was Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap, but to my dismay, it was some other song with just a part of her song in it.

Now, my question to you is, why are good songs being replaced/remade with crappy ones? Imogen's song was originally a heartfelt song about white men taking over the Northern continent way back when, but this new song was just another love song with one of her verses as the chorus. Why?

Another song I can think of that they did this with is Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone (also known as the Numa Numa song). Although, I don't think that song is nearly as good as Imogen's...

  1. I totally agree. Too many old songs are getting ripped off because many of our so-called music artists are better off with a coloring book and a 8-pack of crayons because they have little to no talent. they have to steal portions of good songs and put spins on them to try and make them their own. Are there no decent music skills out there left?

  2. Ok christa, I KNOW YOU DID NOT JUST DISS T.I.!!!!!!!!!@#!#!@!!!!!!!!! >:(!!!!! T.I. is the best ever!!! And he didnt even steal that c'mon it was a tiny part.

This happens all the time though, I dont mind it if the song is good then it will get played if it sucks it wont and no big deal. Eminem did it to with Aerosmith's dream on when he made Sing For The Moment from Dream On's beat. Thats a great song with some great lyrics so I dont mind. Or what kid rock did with all summer long and from sweet home alabama.

  3. Oh, I just thought of another one... and now I've forgotten it >.<

@Kyle, a tiny part is still stealing.

I remember! Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Right Round (Like a Record) being replaced with Flo-Rida's version. (Bleh)

  7. Bah, Flo-Rida's version and Dead or Alive's version have the SAME RHYTHM. They're both equally dancable. Your logic fails! You just like Flo-Rida's version because it's newer and "popular". Bah.

  8. IDK Christa, as hard as it is for me to say it, Kyle is right...sort of. Some remakes or stolen bits of old songs are better than original but most are not. Of course, there are a few that are equally as good. Take "GLEE" for instance. They did an awesome job with a few songs and they are equally as good as the awesome originals.

  9. don, glee isnt stealing any songs, they just sing them and base an episode around it(sort of). And for the flo-rida/original debacle... i prefer the marilin manson version because it just sounds better in my mind; though the flo-rida version is better to dance to and the original is the original..

  10. Charley, learn how to spell Marilyn Manson :P Personally, that man scares me.

And we're not exactly talking about stealing songs, just remaking old songs and making them suck more (or make them better, as some think).

  11. New pop music has no soul. It's hollow and shallow and thoughtless.
